what to watch stoned
Picture this. You’re ripped, you’re on the couch. You have absolutely no idea what to watch, but you have to pick something soon before you get sucked into the ether. You remember The Shop’s list of movies and shows to watch stoned, and you think, all is right with the world.
Here’s a list of some of our favourites, and other gems you guys sent in on instagram.
- Fire of Love - 2022 doco about the Kraffts, a husband and wife duo who study volcanos. It’s beautiful, sad, the soundtrack is fire (heheh) and the footage is incredible. You’ll know the difference between volcanos by the end, and also believe in soulmates.
- Lux Æterna - a Gaspar Noé film that’s just straight up stressful and weird, but visually very trippy and they keep it nice and tight at 51 minutes. You’ll want it to end, but it’s worth the ride… ish. There are lots of strobe lights, heads up.
- Puss in Boots 2 - not sure what else to say, but Banderas deserved an Oscar for that purrformace (sorry).
- Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace - you’ll need to go on YouTube or a dark recess of the internet for this one, and you should only watch if you’re into absurdist humour; but, Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade are in this, so if that means something to you, watch immediately.
- The Great British Bake Off - the 2023 season just ended, and so has my life. It’s just sweet, and wholesome and you really do get way more into it than you expect to.
- Inside - Bo Burnham’s covid masterpiece. It is triggering, but good fun.
